Earth Hour
Earth Hour takes place next Saturday March 26th at 8.30 p.m. Hundreds of millions of people in over 125 countries around the world will turn off their lights for one hour in a universal effort to show that it is possible to take action on global warming. Join in, switch off, save energy!The Office of Public Works in the Irish Republic will be switching off the lights on the Custom House, Leinster House, the Four Courts and the Rock of Cashel and a number of other buildings and national monuments. Across the world a number of landmarks will go dark – including the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Gateway of India in Mumbai, Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate and St. Paul’s in London.

Clerical appointment
The Revd James Boyd, Curate Assistant of Magheralin Parish which serves the villages of Magheralin and Dollingstown in the Diocese of Dromore, has been appointed as Rector of Dromore Parish in the Diocese of Clogher, in succession to the Revd Bryan Martin who became Rector of Donaghcloney and Waringstown Parishes during September 2010.
Institutions
On Thursday 31st March the Revd Noel Regan will be instituted as Rector of the Clogher Cathedral Group of Parishes at 8.00pm in St Macartan’s Cathedral, Clogher, and on Monday 4th April 2011 the Revd Rosemary Logue will be instituted as Rector of Trillick and Kilskeery Group of Parishes at 8.00pm in Kilskeery Parish Church.
Law and religion
The Bishop of Cork, the Right Reverend Paul Colton, has contributed an
extensive article on the law of religion in Ireland to a new
dictionary of the law of religion which has recently been published in
France. Dictionnaire Droit des Religions – is edited by the
jurist Francis Messner of the University of Strasbourg and it is
published by CNRS Éditions, Paris.
Clogher Diocesan Youth Officer Commissioned
A large congregation gathered in the Cathedral Church of St Macartin, Enniskillen on Sunday last 2011, for the launch of the Diocesan Wells Youth Ministry Project and the Commissioning of Mr Jonny Phenix as Diocesan Youth Officer for the Diocese, by the Bishop of Clogher, The Rt Revd Dr Michael Jackson.
The commissioning service was conducted by Bishop Jackson and the Dean and Rector of Enniskillen Cathedral Parish, The Very Revd Kenneth Hall. The Bishop’s Chaplain was the Revd Anita Kerr, the organist was the Cathedral Organist, Mrs Gillian Spence, and the singing was led by the choirs of St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen and The Priory Church, Killadeas. Before the service the Bells of the Cathedral were rung by the Bell-ringers of St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen. More at Children and Youth this site.
