New approach to confirmation

Down and Dromore is currently half way through a new model of Confirmation services in the diocese.

This year the confirmations, which take place between Lent and Ascension Day, are all taking place on an Area Deanery basis.

Candidates will be confirmed with other parishes from the local area in larger services involving audiovisual, worship groups, testimonies and profile sheets (similar to yearbooks) outlining a bit about each person getting confirmed.

In addition to this each candidate will be presented with a ‘goody bag’ from the diocese to encourage them in their faith -containing a Confirmation book and certificate, Church of Ireland origins and practice book and a few other more edible treats.

Finally each service finishes with a dessert supper in the hall including chocolate fountains –that are supposed to be for children and young people but get quite a bit of attention from adults as well.
