Three Dublin fund raisers, Embrace AGM in Belfast, NI Assembly e-Petition on poverty, Clogher appointment

Ambulance Table Quiz, Christ Church Cathedral
On Friday 6 May at 7.30pm, there will be a Table Quiz in the Crypt of Christ Church Cathedral to raise funds for an ambulance for the Diocese of Shyogwe in Rwanda. The quiz is organised by Lesley Rue and the Revd Ken Rue, who will be visiting Shyogwe at the end of May.The cost is €40 per table of four and there will be a raffle on the evening.

Parish Fête at St. Patrick’s Church, Harbour Road, Dalkey
St. Patrick’s Church, Harbour Road, Dalkey, will hold a Parish Fête on Saturday, 7 May from 10.00am – 3.00pm. The day of fun will include children’s entertainment such as a bouncing castle, pony rides and face painting. There will also be refreshments, CDs & DVDs, bric-a-brac, natural materials, plants, books and good-as-new children’s clothes. A jazz band will play on the day.


Summer Sale at St Thomas’ Church in Mount Merrion

On Saturday 7 May, St Thomas’ Church in Mount Merrion is holding its annual summer sale, from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. Admission is €2 and all the usual stalls will be present, as well as the now “legendary” barbecue! All are most welcome.

Embrace AGM and Spring Meeting

Will be held on Tuesday 10th May, from 7.30pm till 9.30pm at Edgehill College Belfast. The evening will consider Seeds of Hope: aspirations, attitudes and actions for building a welcoming community. Rev Dr Inderjit Bhogal, newly appointed leader of the Corrymeela Community, founder of the Cities for Sanctuary movement and former President of the British Methodist Conference will provide the keynote address, sharing his aspirations as he returns to N Ireland. Helen Young, Field Officer for the Irish Episcopal Council for Immigrants will speak about some of her hopes for integration at parish level drawn from her work within the Catholic Church.

Petition call to NI Assembly on poverty

Prof. Colin Harvey (Chair of the Social Justice Network) and Rev Dr Scott Peddie have put together a pre-election statement on behalf of the network calling on all assembly candidates and political parties in NI to put tackling social exclusion and poverty in our society at the forefront of the new programme for government.

Clogher appointment
The Revd Gary McMurray, Curate of St Elizabeth’s, Dundonald, has been appointed rector of Aghavea Parish, Diocese of Clogher.
