MU – the original ‘mumsnet’

Archbishop of Wales’ high regard for MU’s efforts.

During a visit of the World Wide President of the Mothers Union, Rosemary Kempsell, to Wales, the Archbishop, Dr Barry Morgan – a member of the Mothers Union, said “The MU has been the church’s Mumsnet for generations, and is still at the forefront of campaigning on a wide-ranging family issues, both in this country and abroad–from the increasing sexualisation of children to child poverty, literacy And, and inequality.”

He also referred to the practical help that the MU offers to disadvantaged families, such as the holiday caravan it maintains in Porthcawl for families that would otherwise find it difficult to take a holiday. “Its members are involved in the life of churches all over Wales, and make a huge contribution”, he said.

In an address to MU members at St Catherine’s, Baglan, in Llandaff diocese, Mrs Kempsell said that MU groups, “have the skills, knowledge, contacts and womanpower” to make things happen.”
