Enjoying faith as a family

Mothers’ Union has produced a fantastic new resource called “Hand in Hand”, which has been created to help families enjoy their faith together. This resource is meant both for parents who are already strong in their faith and desire to nurture this in their children, and for those who fell less certain.

The booklet comprises a number of sections, including practical ways in which to share family spirituality and celebrate the wonder of life in good times and bad, which can be used to enable us to develop our personal and family faith and more.

Each copy cost £2.00, however discounts are available for bulk orders and can be obtained from central services via email at centralservices@themothersunion.org or telephone on 020 7222 5533.

Strengthening families  – UK National Family Week

National Family Week runs from 30th May-5th June and there are plenty of activities for families to enjoy

National Families Week (NFW) runs from 30th May – 5th June and is a weeklong celebration of family life with plenty of activities for families to enjoy.

A spokesperson at Mary Sumner House said : So what better time to reflect on how Mothers’ Union supports and promotes family life through its faith and policy work. In a world where relationships and their definitions are changing rapidly, what are the principles which guide Mothers’ Union’s engagement in the faith and political debates affecting families?

Cakes for Brakes – Wheels appeal 2011
The MU Wheels Appeal is running again this summer, with tea, cake, fun and games up and down the country.

Why wheels?
A spokesperson at Mary Sumner House said:
“In poor countries, local Mothers’ Union women regularly drive or walk for days. In baking heat or driving rain, they visit the sick, support the lonely, comfort the grieving. They help mothers give birth where there’s no healthcare. They help people get themselves out of oppressive poverty.

“But they can’t make half the journeys they need to: they can’t afford the fuel, bus tickets, or vehicle repairs.
These caring women can’t get where they’re needed. To the families, and those with no family, waiting at the other end.”

So if you’d like to take part, there is a form you can download and send for a free resource pack.
