C of I input at Spiritfest 2011

The Most Rev. Dr. Richard Clarke, Bishop of Meath and Kildare represented the Church of Ireland at Spiritfest 2011 in St. Catherine’s College, Armagh, July 1-3.

Spiritfest was a weekend for people interested in furthering their experience of prayer and spirituality in the Roman Catholic tradition. It provided a wonderful opportunity for the Diocese to gather and learn more about prayer. It was also   a preparation for the International Eucharistic Congress, which will take place in Dublin in 2012.

There were nine keynote speakers in all. Overseas guests included Dr. Joann Heaney-Hunter, St John’s University, New York, Fr. Laurence Freeman OSB, Director of The World Community for Christian Meditation, and Ms. Monica Brown, Emmaus Productions, Australia.

Rev. Dr. Ruth Patterson, Director of Restoration Ministries,represented the Presbyterian Church.

The great spiritual traditions of St Benedict, St. Francis and St Ignatius in Ireland were represented by Sr. Briege O’Hare, OSC, Faughart Monastery, Fr. Paschal McDonnell OFM, Rossnowlagh Friary, Fr. Gregory Collins, OSB, Glenstal Abbey and Rev. Prof. Eamonn Conway, Tuam Diocese.
