Memorial window for Donegal church

A weekend of events in Holy Trinity Church began on Friday evening with a Service of Thanksgiving for the Harvest and indeed all God’s bounty for his people. The guest preacher was Revd. Noel Regan former Precentor of Clogher Cathedral. This was followed by a Harvest Supper in the Parish Hall.
On Sunday the Warren Family along with friends and parishioners were present at the Morning Office when a stained glass window, the gift of the family, was dedicated to the Glory of God and in memory of their parents Canon Noel Warren (former Rector) his wife Nini and their sister Anne. The window was dedicated by the Rector Revd. David Skuce. The window depicts the Virgin Mary with the infant Christ in her arms. Following the Service refreshments were served in the hall.

Bishop Miller on proposed abortion legislation

A statement by the Bishop of Down and Dromore, the Rt Revd Harold Miller, in support of this morning’s call to action from the Church leaders on proposed abortion legislation: ‘The right to life is paramount and its protection must be a higher priority than any other political issue. The Church of Ireland affirms the fundamental principle of the value of all human life – before and after birth – and that every human being is made in the image and likeness of God. It is the responsibility of all political parties to restore the Northern Ireland Assembly now so that the lives of both unborn children and pregnant women can continue to be safeguarded in law and through supportive pastoral and medical care.’

Archbishop’s Commissary for Down & Dromore

Advent challenge to Cork youth

CDYC (Cork Diocesan Youth Council) have set up an exciting ‘Advent Challenge’ for the young people in Cork, Cloyne & Ross.

They are asked to follow reading programme that involves reading 2 chapters of the Gospel of Saint Mark each week over the next 8 weeks.

Of course it isn’t just a reading task! The young people then are asked to write a short 500 word piece on ‘What you have learned from the Gospel of Mark?’ and ‘Why Jesus Matters?

There will be a prize of €50 for the best article followed by €35 for 2nd place and €20 for 3rd place.

A resource book called FUEL, produced by CIYD, can be used in this challenge.

All entries must be returned to Hilda by the 1st December.
