Christ Church Waterford programme during the Imagine Festival 2011

Christ Church Waterford will host a programme of Music, Film and Visual Art during the Imagine Festival 2011

On Friday 21st October we welcome the Gonzalez Walsh Guitar Duo for a Guitar Workshop at 2pm and Concert at 8pm. A collaboration between Irish Guitarist John Walsh and Argentinean guitarist and percussionist Lucas Gonzalez, the duo is a melting pot for a diverse range of world music.

Saturday 22nd October the much loved and celebrated Waterford Male Voice Choir will be joined by the superb voices of the Weybridge Male Voice Choir for a concert at 8pm. Tickets €14/€10 concession.

Saturday 29th October the legendary Ger Wolfe will perform his own transcendant blend of trad and folk. Ger was described by John Spillane as “The poetic soul of Ireland” and Christy Moore says “Ger Wolfe’s songs always raise my spirits, his voice always, always brings me into the song.” Not to be missed.
Tickets €16/€12 concession.

Sunday 30th October at 8pm for Hallowe’en a screening of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s 1932 classic Black and White film Vampyr accompanied by live imrovisation on the organ by the truly original and innovative Morgan Cooke…White face, fangs and black cloak? Cloves of garlic and crosses?….or whatever you fancy…dress for the occasion!

Throughout the Imagine Festival the figurative sculpture of Catherine Greene will be on exhibit at the Cathedral. Catherine has always worked thematically, exploring the figure in contexts such as planets/globes, angels and pilgrims.
