A QUOTE by Desmond Tutu, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO
A QUOTE
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.
Desmond Tutu
“Differences are not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realize our need of one another.”
― Desmond Tutu
A TEXT
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:8(NIV)
AND A PRAYER…OR TWO
Gracious God,
your Word spoken through the Prophets
became the Voice that proclaimed
your justice and healing in Nazareth.
Through Jesus you invite all creation
into your reconciling love.
As you freed his followers
from their fear of the risks of discipleship,
so move within us, in your love,
with the strength, compassion and courage
to give of ourselves in the ministry of reconciliation entrusted to us
through Jesus Christ, your Son, Amen.
