The Athlone Choral Society is tuning up for its annual Christmas concert to be held in St Mary’s Church of Ireland, Church Street, Athlone, on Sunday, December 4, at 6pm in aid of Athlone Simon.
The seasonal repertoire chosen by Musical Director Dr Joe Ryan and performed by the choir includes the Christmas carols ‘The Infant King’ by S.Baring-Gould,
‘A Virgin Most Pure’ by Charles Wood, ‘In The Bleak Mid-winter’ by Harold Darke and the light and cheerful ‘Of All The Birds That I Do Know’ by John Bartley.
Together with Advent Readings and solo performances from invited guests it promises to be a very enjoyable evening.
So, come early to be assured of a good seat, sing along with some well-known carols, enjoy a warming glass of mulled wine at the interval and get the Christmas season off to an early, entertaining and cultured start.
Tickets €10 are available from choir members and at the door on the night of the concert.
