Belfast Rotary Club centenary service

The Rotary Club of Belfast held a Centenary Celebration at Evensong in Belfast Cathedral.

During the service, at which representatives of the Methodist, Roman Catholic and Presbyterian Churches took part, a number of children presented baskets of “remembrance ribbons” which had been given expressing hopes and reflections, remembrances and prayers for loved ones. Alexandra Dick sang John Rutter’s “Clare Benediction”, whilst the Cathedral Choir contributed a plainsong setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Morley and John Rutter’s “Prayer of Saint Patrick”. Several office bearers of the Rotary Club of Belfast, past and present were readers as well as representatives of associated charities. The sermon was preached by the Dean and Dame Mary Peters was present, spending time after the service mingling with the large congregation.
