The C of I correspondent to The Irish Times notes today:

Tomorrow (Sunday) morning RTE Radio 1 will broadcast a Service of the Word from St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick. The service will be led by the Revd Vicki Lynch with music from Theophany–Cacophany. At 4pm there will be Carols by Candlelight in St Doulagh’s medieval church on the Malahide Road at Balgriffen where the music will be provided by the 1st Coy Boys’ Brigade Brass Band, while at the same time there will be an Ecumenical Carol Service in St Kieran’s Church, Clonmacnoise. In St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim, at 7.30pm there will be a Diocesan and Community Carol Service with the Diocesan Choir directed by Doreen Kimberley, In St Mary’s Church, Carrigaline, the Bishop of Cork will institute the Revd Elaine Murray to the incumbency of Carragaline union of parishes. Ms Murray has been Vicar of the Kilkenny group of parishes since 2008.

On Monday afternoon the Archbishop of Dublin will preside at the King’s Hospital annual Charter Day celebrations.

The Executive Committee of the Representative Church Body will meet in Church of Ireland House, Dublin, on Tuesday and this will be followed by a meeting of the full Representative Church Body on Wednesday.

One of the more remarkable members of the late 19th century Dublin Church of Ireland community will be remembered on Wednesday evening when In the Fever King’s Preserves. Sir Charles Cameron and the Dublin Slums, by Dr Lydia Carroll and published by A&A Farmar, will be launched by the Dublin City Archivist, Dr Mary Clark in Freemason’s Hall. Cameron, whose family was associated with St George’s Church in Temple Street, was appointed Dublin Medical Officer of Heath in 1874 and is credited with significant reform of public health administration in the city.

On Thursday, in Mitchelstown, the Bishop of Cork will attend Evensong in the Chapel of Kingston College. This will be followed by dinner for the College residents and guests to mark the 250th anniversary of the bequest which founded the charity which provides residential accommodation for the elderly.

At 2pm next Friday the annual Sit–Out for Charity outside St Ann’ Church, Dawson Street, will be launched by the Lord Mayor and the Archbishop of Dublin with the Taney Parish Junior Choir. Different choirs will sing each lunchtime, except Sunday, until Christmas Eve when the Steadfast Band will join members of the St Ann’s parish choir.
