Christians Against Poverty seeks parish partnerships

Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity. Chief Executive, Matt Barlow writes with exciting new possibilities for church partnership.
“Last month, the Office of Fair Trading granted us a Group Consumer Credit Licence, which means we can offer a more affordable partnership option to churches who wish to do more of the debt counselling themselves. We are one of only three money advice organisations to hold this licence.

This new flexibility will help us to fulfill our vision of having 500 CAP Debt Centres in the UK by 2015. This year alone, we are aiming to open 70 new centres. We hope and pray that you will be a part of this.

Working in partnership with CAP will empower the church with:
•    A professional debt counselling service offered free of charge to people in your community (find out more about our service here)
•    A chance for church members to be empowered to serve the community
•    An individual or team trained by CAP, working as volunteers or paid staff to set up and run the centre
•    CAP is committed to working with churches from many different denominations and backgrounds. CAP is not here to simply offer a service to a church, but to establish a relationship and partnership with the church through which we can work together to deliver the service.

A key to this relationship is that we share common values, beliefs and ethos. Because of this, we are keen to work with churches who:

Share our compassion for the poor and needy

Can demonstrate a growing culture of outreach to the local community

Share our evangelical faith

Are committed to serving God in an excellent professional manner
