Derry Parish to host Careers Convention

An initiative supported by the Church of Ireland Priorities Fund.
Maghera Parish Caring Association [MPCA] is planning to run a Careers Convention on Monday 28th February 2011 in Maghera Leisure Centre from 9am – 9pm.

The aim of this careers convention is to help those within the local community to see the many educational and careers opportunities that might appeal to them. It is also for young people to develop their understanding of further education.

By creating an opportunity for all those within the community to attend a careers convention the organisers hope to raise morale and create simple contact points to help some make the first move towards employment or higher education.

The Careers Convention will host local businesses and also universities so as students can access information for future educational needs. The convention will also be providing workshops that will offer information on ‘How to create a CV’ and ‘How to do a good interview’. There will be a Careers Adviser present to give help and advice on jobs, careers or further education.
