A new committee was elected at the AGM of Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise/(Irish Guild of the Church) on 11 June, after a service in the Lady Chapel, Christ Church Cathedral to commemorate St. Columba.
Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise hold their AGM on the closest Saturday to St. Columba’s Day each year. The Rev Elaine Dunne led the service.
The newly elected members of the committee are:
Dáithí Ó Maolchoile (Chair and Hon. Treasurer) Aonghus Dwane (Hon Sec), An tUrr Máirt Hanley, An tUrr Elaine Dunne, An Dr. Kenneth Milne, Seathrún MacÉin agus Eileen McCracken.
The meeting heard that there were monthly services in Irish in Dublin throughout the year and that special services in Irish had taken place in Armagh, Killkenny, Galway, Downpatrick and Belfast.
There were more than 70 members of the Cumann in 2011.
