A Diocesan Service of Choral Evensong was held in 070-336 St Marys Cathedral, Tuam on Passion Sunday, 10th April.
Each parish in the Diocese of Tuam, Killala & Achonry played a role in the liturgy when the emphasis was on the Suffering of Jesus, focusing prayer and reflection on ‘The Price He Had to Pay’. The 642-832 music was led by Mark Duley and the Galway Choir who sang Stainer’s haunting ‘God So Loved the World’.
The Dean of Tuam, Very Revd. Alistair Grimason, intoned the service and ‘The Sorrowful Mysteries’, led by folk from all over the United diocese, concentrated our minds and hearts on The Cross.
Towards the end of the liturgy two new members of the Cathedral Chapter were installed by the Dean. Revd. Denis Sandes (Clifden) was installed as Provost of Tuam and Revd. Doris Clements (Ballina) was installed Prebendary of Kilmeen/Killmoylan.
The Authorised Version of The Holy Bible was used throughout to mark the 400th anniversary of it’s production.
