Lent 12 – Transforming mission in 2012

A Lent resource from CMS

Mike Burke, Church Networker at CMS UK, writes:

I want to personally invite you to take a look at a new range of free Lent and Easter resources for 2012 from the Church Mission Society (CMS).

The theme of these resources is “transforming mission in 2012”. What better time than Lent to think about God’s transforming mission?

The materials available include:
•    Small group Lent study materials
•    Stories of how God is transforming lives and communities worldwide
•    Ideas for community “meals with a meaning” for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday
•    A special interactive activity for primary school-age children to help them understand the meaning Holy Week and Easter through drama, story and teaching — all learning styles are covered!
•    An interactive journey through Holy Week for adults

We are particularly excited about the small group study and the children’s interactive activity — we piloted it with a church and the response was overwhelmingly positive amongst children and adults!

Again, these resources are FREE and can be downloaded from the CMS website at www.cms-uk.org/lent

Speaking of transforming mission…short-term mission engagement can help us discover new ways of viewing how God is working in the world. If you are planning or leading a short-term mission team excursion, please consider attending the CMS Short-term Leaders Training Day on 10 March. Our experienced staff members will cover cross-cultural preparation, team dynamics, practicalities and much more. Cost: £35 per person, including lunch. Encounter teams planned for Peru and DR Congo this summer. Contact Helen for more details: helen.brook@cms-uk.org
