Colossians 2:6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Driving back to college in southern Virginia was a soul-grounding experience for me. As I passed familiar landmarks and whizzed by the trees that grew more abundant with each mile, the first glimpse of the Blue Ridge Mountains would make my wandering heart feel rooted in something tangible and true.The Blue Ridge Mountains ground me to God. They hold dear memories of my childhood and young adulthood. This old, ancient chain of mountains stands as a deep manifestation of God’s grace for which I’m abundantly grateful.
I want to be rooted in Christ in the same way I am rooted to the Blue Ridge. As I journey through this life, I pray to be rooted in Jesus, established, trusting and following in his path. Let me seek to know Jesus as deeply I know those mountains.
