The Micks – The Irish Guards
Royal wedding: Irish Guards swap fatigues for bearskins before royal wedding duty
The Daily Telegraph reported that less than a month ago, Captain Max Dooher was at the remote Patrol Base Rahim on the front line in Helmand province, where conditions were so primitive that he could only shave once a week and shower once a month. Capt Dooher, 28, from the west of Ireland was hand-picked to represent 1st Battalion Irish Guards, of which Prince William is Colonel, because he was on the same commissioning course as the Prince at Sandhurst.
One member of the battalion who took a dress rehearsal all in his stride was the mascot, Conmael, a two-year-old Irish wolfhound.
His handler, Drummer Oliver Vaughey, 22, who will be on duty with Conmael as the carriage procession enters the palace after the wedding, said: “I’ll give him some tea and toast and a red apple in the guardroom and he’ll be fine after that. He has met the Queen twice so it’s all in a day’s work for him.”

The Dean of Westminster
The Very Reverend Dr John Hall was installed as the 38th Dean of Westminster on 2 December 2006. The Dean oversees the spiritual life of the Collegiate Church of St Peter Westminster, better known as Westminster Abbey, and gives leadership to the Abbey community, which includes 200 staff and 400 volunteers. Since the Abbey is a Royal Peculiar, the Dean is responsible to the Sovereign alone.
