SPEAKING TO THE SOUL

Monday 5th December

A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

A QUOTE

“Our suffering is not worthy the name of
suffering. When I consider my crosses,
tribulations, and temptations, I shame myself
almost to death, thinking what are they in
comparison of the sufferings of my blessed
Saviour Christ Jesus.”
Martin Luther

A TEXT

“Trust in the Lord with all you heart
and lean not to your own understanding.
In all ways, acknowledge Him and
He will direct your paths.” Prov. 3:5-6

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

God of timeless grace,
you fill us with joyful expectation.
Make us ready for the message that prepares the way,
that with uprightness of heart and holy joy
we may eagerly await the kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ,
who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

O Lord,
Raise up (we pray thee) thy power, and come among us,
and with great might succour us;
that whereas, through our sins and wickedness,
we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us,
thy bountiful grace and mercy
may speedily help and deliver us;
through the satisfaction of thy Son our Lord,
to whom with thee and the Holy Spirit,
be honour and glory, world without end.Amen
