SPEAKING TO THE SOUL

Wednesday 26th October

A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO – The quotes this week are from Archbishop Desmond Tutu

A QUOTE

“Forgiving is not forgetting; its actually remembering–remembering and not using your right to hit back. Its a second chance for a new beginning. And the remembering part is particularly important. Especially if you don’t want to repeat what happened.”
― Desmond Tutu

“We may be surprised at the people we find in heaven. God has a soft spot for sinners. His standards are quite low.”
― Desmond Tutu

A TEXT

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as soldiers rejoice when dividing plunder. Isaiah 9:2-3

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

God, our Father, you can make all things new.
We commit ourselves to you: help us
– to live for others since your love includes all people,
– to seek those truths which we have not yet seen,
– to obey your commands which we have heard but not yet obeyed,
– to trust each other in the fellowship which you have given us;
and may we be renewed, by your spirit through Jesus Christ,
your Son and our Lord.

-Uppsala prayer: World Council of Churches.
