Dublin and Glendalough diocesan youth camps entered their 20th year this summer and the numbers are up 100%. This was the fifth year organised by SusanMaxwell.
45 campers took part including members from three new parishes with 14 leaders walking alongside them.
Activities included the ‘Dangerous Olympics’, bouncy castles challenges, tenniss, and swimming, a visit to Bunratty castle, discos, making music videos, Gurteen’s got talent, a farm tour including milking cows and workshops as varied as making balloons animals, Rocky-Road cook -offs, paper airplane championships and creative writing.
Cliff Jeffers was the chaplain for the Junior camps using drama, puppets, group games, video clips and robots during worship. While Greg Fromholtz took on the chaplaincy duties for the seventh year of the senior comp using interaction, digital loo Butps, a raw salmon and even piling the mobile phones in the centre of the room as they discussed “Piling up the distractions and practicing presence”.
