Handel’s Messiah will be performed in Galway’s St Nicholas’s Church on Saturday, December 10 at 7.30pm by the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the Resurgam choir.

The Irish Baroque Orchestra is synonymous with performances of baroque music, especially Handel’s Messiah . The Orchestra performs regularly at key festivals including East Cork Early Music Festival, Ardee Baroque, and most recently the Kilkenny Arts Festival.
Singing comes courtesy of Resurgam, which is known for its presentation of the sacred repertoire of the renaissance and baroque periods. The group has performed in many venues throughout Ireland and also in the UK, and has featured in several major Irish festivals, including the Cork International Choral Festival, Ardee Baroque, the Galway Early Music Festival, and more recently, The Kilkenny Arts Festival.
Guest director for the event, Jeffrey Skidmore is director of internationally-acclaimed choral group Ex Cathedra, and its associated Consort and Baroque Orchestra. He has appeared in numerous concert series and festivals across the UK and abroad and is is a pioneer in the field of research and performance of neglected choral works of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
The performance of Handel’s Messiah is a co-production from The Irish Baroque Orchestra and Music for Galway.
