A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

A QUOTE
Come now, turn aside for a while from your daily employment, escape for a moment from the tumult of your thoughts. Put aside your weighty cares, let your burdensome distractions wait, free yourself for a while for God and rest awhile in him. Enter the inner chamber of your soul, shut out everything except God and that which can help you in seeking him, and when you have shut the door, seek him. Now, my soul, say to God, ‘I seek your face; Lord it is your face that I seek.’ Amen. Anselm (1033-1109)

A TEXT
O God, you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are
fixed on you; for in returning and rest we shall be saved; in
quietness and trust shall be our strength.   Isaiah 26:3; 30:15

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

Holy God,
you love justice and hate oppression;
you call us to righteousness and not to exploitation.
Give us generous and loving hearts,
and eyes to see the splendour of your reign,
that we may live in truth and honour,
and praise you for the transformation of our lives,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God,
your Son has shown us how to love one another.
May our love for you
overflow into joyous service
and be a healing witness to our neighbours
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
