Commemoration of Thomas Bray, Priest, Founder of SPCK, 1730

A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

A QUOTE
Thou hadst no youth, great God,
An Unbeginning End Thou art;
Thy glory in itself abode,
And still abides in its own tranquil heart:
No age can heap its outward years on Thee:
Dear God! Thou art Thyself Thine own eternity!
… Frederick William Faber (1814-1863), Hymns, New York: E. P. Dutton, 1877, p. 18-19  (see the book; more at Eternity, Glory, God, Heart, Year)

A TEXT
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8-9

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO
Perfect Light of revelation,
as you shone in the life of Jesus,
whose epiphany we celebrate,
so shine in us and through us,
that we may become beacons of truth and compassion,
enlightening all creation with deeds of justice and mercy. Amen.
