Ordination in All Saints’ Parish, Antrim. All Saints will be the setting on January 9 for the ordination of Adrian Halligan as curate assistant in the parish.
Adrian is well known to parishioners as he has served in All Saints for the past three years as part of his training.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time at All Saints, Antrim, so far,” he said. “The congregation was very welcoming to my wife Wendy, our daughter Abigail and myself when we first arrived and they have looked after us as much as we have them. We have made a lot of very good friends here.”
Adrian will be ordained deacon by the Rt Rev Dr Gordon McMullan in a service in All Saints’ Parish Church at 11am on Sunday January 9.

Ringing in the New Year in St Patrick’s, Ballymena
True to tradition, the Bell Ringers of St Patrick’s, Ballymena, ensured they were ready to strike the first stroke as Big Ben began his first chime at Midnight on New Year’s Eve.St Patrick’s is fortunate to have a Rector and Tower Captain who care about tradition.  The church bells have been ringing at the Watch Night service since they were installed in 1895 and only during the War Years were they silent.

New Year’s Eve 1945 saw the start of this tradition once again and the New Year bells have been rung every year since.  Even when the parish is scarce of ringers it always endeavours to have at least six ringers to ‘ring out the Old Year and then ring in The New.’

Connor Discerning Direction Seminar
A Leading Edge seminar, Discerning Direction, which was postponed last November, will now take place in St Polycarp’s, Lisburn Road, Finaghy, on January 26.
Discerning Direction will explore the role of vision in the life of a church. Through presentations, case studies and discussion the day will describe why having a clear vision is so important, how it is developed and what roles a church’s values, identity and purpose play in underpinning vision.

The seminar on January 26 will take place from 10am until 3.30pm with lunch provided. An application form can be downloaded at.
