SPEAKING TO THE SOUL

Tuesday 20th September

A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO
The churches have been asked to take time between September 1 and October 31 to reflect on Creationtime. PRAY2DAY is observing Creationtime this week

A QUOTE

“True Godliness doesn’t turn men out of the world, but enables them to live better in it, and excites their endeavors to mend it. …We have nothing that we can call our own; no, not our selves: for we are all but Tenants, and at Will, too, of the great Lord of our selves, and the rest of this great farm, the World that we live upon.”
— William Penn (1644-1718), Quaker theologian and founder of Pennsylvania

A TEXT

The earth is full of your creatures. Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures. Creatures both great and small. Psalm 104:24-25

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

Gracious Father
your Son is the source of living water:
grant that the gift of his Spirit might inspire us all
To value this gift you have provided for our benefit,
To learn to use it efficiently so that it may be shared by all,
and to strive to ensure that it is available to all your people,
Through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen

Giver of Life–Sustain Your Creation
We praise you, Holy Spirit, our Advocate and Comforter. Help us to affirm life in the midst of death, supporting us as we confront the power of destruction, urging us to hammer swords into plowshares and spears into pruning knives; So that wolves and sheep live together in peace, life is celebrated, creation is restored as the Sphere of the living. Holy Spirit, we praise you; help us to affirm life in the midst of death. Amen.
