The CD recorded last month by Portadown Male Voice Choir at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh, is now available.
The Hillsborough recording company Komodo recorded the 20 items on the CD – from ‘Seventy-six Trombones’ to ‘When I Survey’, ‘The Saints’ to ‘The Day Thou Gavest’, among them, plus the title song ‘A Perfect Day’. Musical director Gordon Speers conducts the choir, and Steven Bell (piano) and Richard Campbell (organ) are the accompanists.
It’s the choir’s first-ever CD, having recorded tapes and vinyl LPs in the past, and shows the choir at its best, having been recorded over two days in October. Part of the proceeds will go to the Marie Curie Cancer charity.
Called ‘A Perfect Day’, copies can be obtained from choir members and at the choir’s annual charity “Carols at St Mark’s” event on Friday December 2 when they join with Portadown Ladies Choir in what is usually a packed church.
