Changing Attitude given £2000 grant by Church of England

Changing Attitude Sussex, which campaigns for full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the Anglican Church, was awarded a grant this week of £2000 by the Church and Community Fund (CCF) of the Archbishops’ Council.

The bid was backed by the Bishop of Chichester, Dr John Hind. The CCF makes awards to groups seeking ‘to bridge gaps between the local church and the local community.’

The chair of Changing Attitude Sussex, Dr Keith Sharpe, said”

“This is wonderful news. It will enable us to further our survey work on the attitude of Christian churches in Sussex towards the gay community and ensure that the results are widely disseminated. Our aim is to help the churches better understand the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in their parishes. We also hope that through our work the gay community can come to see not all Christians are homophobic. This money will assist us greatly in both these tasks.”
