Derry International Choir Festival is getting an online make-over

The City of Derry International Choir Festival is getting an online make-over for its 2020 edition and we’re thrilled to announce an exciting and diverse programme, taking place this October 21 – 25.

The extensive programme of events will include;
Exclusive concerts and workshops from incredible guest artists, including Tenebrae and their Musical Director Nigel Short
A virtual Choral Trail of performances from local, national and international choirs
A multimedia Opening Gala concert with the 2020 Festival Chorus, premiering brand new music from award-winning composer Brian Irvine
A virtual massed sing of the iconic Danny Boy, conducted by world-renowned composer and arranger Bob Chilcott
A live-streamed, socially-distanced performance from a spectacular city venue, by local chamber choir Codetta
And lots more to be announced!

A Festival spokesperson said “We’d like to say a massive thank you to all choirs and conductors who have already been in touch offering your support and expressing an interest in participating this year. Details of how you can take part in our 2020 Festival Chorus, Choral Trail, Danny Boy performance and/or workshops will be available in due course on our website [ www.derrychoirfest.com ]and social media channels, so be sure to check in regularly for updates!

Somme remembrance

Alderman Mark Fielding, mayor of Coleraine and Mrs Phyllis Fielding, mayoress laid a wreath in Portstewart to remember the many who laid down their life at the Somme. Included are clergy, members of Portstewart Royal British Legion and representatives of Causeway Coast and Glen’s council. Prayers were led by Rev Malcolm Ferry, Rector of Agherton (Portstewart).
