This week of 20-26 November 2011 is designated as ‘Prisons Week 2011’ – a week of prayer for all those affected by prison life across the UK.
Prison Chaplains in Northern Ireland, from across Christian denominations and Christian organisations including the Church of Ireland, are participating in the week, which takes as its theme ‘Can You See Me? – or are you just looking?’.
The initiative, which parishes have been invited to support, is aimed at praying for and raising awareness of the needs of prisoners and their families, victims and offenders, prison staff and all those who care about this work.
There are daily prayers and texts for each day of the special week, and this year’s Bible text is Matthew 25 v35-40.
