Shoe box gifts to India

Gifts packaged with care by parishioners of Magheragall, Diocese of Connor, are now winging their way to India in time for Christmas.
The parish once again supported the Blythswood Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, and over the Harvest weekend a team was busy filling and wrapping shoe boxes in the parish hall.

At the children’s Harvest the Sunday School and Church Lads’ and Church Girls’ Brigade came to give thanks, bringing with them their completed shoe boxes.

Michelle Gault of Blythswood Care spoke about the appeal, explaining that the 120,000 boxes collected in 2010 went to Pakistan and Romania where they brought joy to some of the very poorest people in the world.

A lorry from Blythswood Care collected the 240 shoe boxes prepared in Magheragall, and these are now on the way to India for Christmas.

Bronwen Dark from Magheragall thanked everyone who helped with the Shoe Box Appeal. “There were quite a few of us kept busy for this immensely valuable cause of preparing shoe boxes to be distributed to people in great need. Blythswood Care will distribute thousands of boxes for Christmas to people in India, Pakistan and Eastern Europe,” she said
