SPEAKING TO THE SOUL

Wednesday 21st September

A QUOTE, A TEXT AND A PRAYER…OR TWO
The churches have been asked to take time between September 1 and October 31 to reflect on Creationtime. PRAY2DAY is observing Creationtime this week

A QUOTE

“Now if I believe in God’s Son and remember that He became man, all creatures will appear a hundred times more beautiful to me than before. Then I will properly appreciate the sun, the moon, the stars, trees, apples, as I reflect that he is Lord over all things. …God writes the Gospel, not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.”
— Martin Luther (1483-1546), Reformation theologian

A TEXT

The trees of the countryside will yield their fruit and the soil will yield its produce; they will be secure on their soil. Ezekiel 34: 27

Give us today our daily bread. Matthew 6:11

AND A PRAYER…OR TWO

Almighty God
you created the heavens and the earth
and all that is in them,
and you created humankind in your own image,
and it was very good:
grant us the courage to recognise our failure to maintain your creation
and by your grace do all that we can to halt the degradation of our environment; through Jesus Christ our Lord who came that we might have life in all its fullness. Amen

Joy in God’s Creation
O heavenly Father, who has filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen
