Following is the very busy Christmas schedule of the Duhallow Choral Society.
On Sunday, December 4, in Ballydesmond Church at 3pm in aid of Ballydesmond NS, Tuesday, December 6 in Newmarket Church at 7pm in aid of Newmarket NS, Friday, December 16, in Kilnamartyra Parish Church at 8pm.
The annual Duhallow Christmas Carol Concert 2011 will be in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kanturk, on Sunday, December 18, with Musical Director Sharon Riedy, accompanist Ian Sexton and this year the choir have a special guest soprano, Ms Miriam Murphy.
Ms Miriam Murphy a native of County Kerry and she began her studies under Dr Veronica Dunne, Dublin. Miriam sensationally debuted at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London as Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth. She has performed in many prestigious venues all over the world and has been awarded many coveted awards in the world of opera. Hugh Canning The Sunday Times has written, “this young Irish singer has one the most exciting new dramatic soprano voices I have ever heard in years”.
Tickets cost €10, from choir members or at the door on the night, with the proceeds of the concert in aid of the church renovation fund.
