Leading by learning

It has been a busy year CIYD staff team stepping ahead in their learning.Catherine Little of CIYD and Katy Purvis of Holywood Youth Trust have recently received their Effective Management of Volunteers Certificate. at Queens University Belfast

The course, which was delivered by Volunteer Now staff and accredited through Queens, covered all aspects of volunteer management including the concepts and values that underpin volunteering, recruitment and selection, support and supervision, volunteers and the law as well as developing volunteer policies.

Sharon Hamill CIYD’s Youth Ministry Development Worker, undertook a Certificate In Training Practice through the Chartered Institute for Personal Development in Belfast Metropolitan College.

The course was intensive and the content valuable, covering the theory and practical tools required to develop and deliver effective training.

In successfully completing the course Sharon managed to achieve overall distinction level and was commended by the Judging panel to receive the Gold Award Certificate in Training Practice. Sharon received her award on 26 November at an evening reception hosted by the NI Branch Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast.
